Roundtable Delivers Software Configuration Solution that Combines Parallel Development with Total Control and Visibility

Roundtable TSMS 11.5 provides flexible development options and support for Progress® Pacific™ Application Server (PAS) for OpenEdge®

Franklin, TN – Roundtable® Software has announced the availability of the latest version of its industry-leading software configuration management solution, Roundtable TSMS 11.5. As part of this new release, Roundtable Software has introduced the Lab feature to enable parallel development while providing the control and visibility that has long distinguished Roundtable TSMS within the market.

“The Lab feature gives our customers another choice with their simultaneous development efforts by combining our centralized model with a private, parallel model. This combination provides collaborative visibility and management oversight while enabling the agility and flexibility needed in fast-paced OpenEdge development shops,” says Jeff Ledbetter, Product Architect at Roundtable Software. “Of course, our traditional development model is still available as well. The Lab feature gives you the best of both worlds.”

With the Lab feature, more than one Roundtable TSMS user can modify the same Workspace object at the same time. In addition to enabling parallel development, the Lab feature provides developers with the ability to work on experimental code in a private area within a managed environment.

“Roundtable TSMS has helped our team deliver a robust, high-performance application year after year. When I heard about the new Lab feature, I was thrilled. For a large organization with fast-moving development teams, Roundtable TSMS 11.5 provides the means to approach development demands more aggressively without sacrificing the much larger controls in place that we need and have come to depend on,” says Steve Croff, Senior Software Engineer for Epicor, a global business solutions provider.

“Roundtable has empowered Progress customers to optimize and streamline their Progress OpenEdge® development environment. The new Roundtable Lab feature will allow our customers to take a winning OpenEdge solution even further. This will enable concurrent development while also providing the management and controls Roundtable is known for and will give our customers added flexibility and agility to rapidly deliver industry-leading applications,” says Jerry Rulli, Chief Operating Officer at Progress.

Roundtable TSMS customers have the option to use the Lab for concurrent development as well as the traditional pessimistic-locking model. “The Lab feature of 11.5 is exciting because we can give our customers more flexibility in terms of how they want to develop,” says Jaclyn Barnard, Director of Business Development for Roundtable Software. “For those who longed for the benefits that Roundtable TSMS repeatedly brings – faster time-to-market, improved product quality – but just couldn’t imagine themselves giving up parallel development to achieve it, I say ‘look again.’”

In addition to the Lab feature, Roundtable TSMS 11.5 includes additional performance and productivity enhancements, including support for the Progress® Pacific™ Application Server (PAS) for OpenEdge®. Enabling customers to take advantage of PAS is in keeping with Roundtable’s ongoing commitment to ensuring compatibility with every version of the OpenEdge platform. Roundtable TSMS 11.5 also includes improved performance for generating cross-reference data. The update has improved the generation of impact analysis data by 30%-40%.
